What are the Parramatta City Council Archives?

Parramatta City Council Archives

Local councils are integral to the history of the areas they serve. Parramatta City Council has a wealth of archival material, which illustrates the history of the Council itself, as well as the growth and development of the Parramatta area. Located at the Parramatta Heritage Centre, this nationally significant collection dates back to 1846. In addition to the archival records of Parramatta Municipal (later City) Council, the collection includes the known surviving records of Granville, Dundas and Ermington - Rydalmere Municipal Councils.

Researchers should contact the Archives to discuss their research needs and arrange an appointment to visit. A limited research service is available for those who are unable to visit.
