Retail Trading - Can businesses place retail on public footpaths ?Retail Trading Policy The Retail Trading Policy is a Council endorsed policy that is there to encourage, control and regulate the use of public places (footpaths, malls etc) for the placement of goods and articles. All businesses wishing to place retail goods onto the public footpath need to seek permission from Council to do so. The Policy provides criteria for the placement of goods and articles in all business zones across the LGA, which do not adversely impact on the streetscape or impede pedestrian access and safety. Its main purpose is to enhance the marketing opportunities for businesses not only within the Parramatta CBD, but throughout the LGA in areas zoned to permit retail activities.
