Neighbourhoods - What is Council doing to improve them ?
Suburban Infrastructure Enhancement Programme The Suburban Infrastructure Enhancement Programme is funded by a special levy raised on residential properties outside the City Centre. The ten-year program funds
The Suburban Infrastructure Enhancement Programme was made up of $1,690,000 worth of funded programmes in 2000/01 and $1,743,000 for the 2001/02 financial year. It includes funding from the earlier special rate for the New Road Construction Programme ($641,000 for 2000/01 and $662,000 for 2001/02). This spending combined with Council's annual programme for road construction will enable the majority of the high and medium priority road construction projects to be completed. This includes kerbs, gutter and road shoulder constructions. After two years of the Suburban Infrastructure Enhancement Programme, $852,000 per year will be diverted from the Accelerated Road Construction Programme to the Environmental Improvement Programme. It will aim to improve water quality in our creeks and rivers through stormwater improvements, interpretive and educational signage and environmental monitoring. Other major creek restoration works are being planned via a three-year and ten-year work program. If you would like any further information on this programme, please phone 9806 5200.
